Fontavio Terms of Service
Last updated: 20.7.2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Lense Oy, business ID 2372264-7, Turku, Finland (“Fontavio”, “we”). By creating an account or using the Fontavio app or fontavio.com you accept them.
1. The service
Fontavio is a community map of water-related services — drinking water points, toilets, showers, and similar facilities. Map content comes from OpenStreetMap, other open sources, and user contributions. A free tier is ad-supported; Fontavio Pro is a paid subscription with extra features (e.g. offline maps, no ads).
2. The data is informational — verify before you rely on it
Fontavio does not guarantee that any listed water is safe to drink, that a facility exists, is open, is free, or is accessible. Content is contributed by a community and can be wrong or out of date. Markings such as “potable” or “verified” reflect community or source information, not laboratory testing or our inspection. Always use your own judgment before drinking from, or relying on, any listed place. If you find incorrect information, please report it in the app.
3. Your account
You need an account (Google, Apple, or email sign-in) to contribute. Keep your credentials safe; you are responsible for activity on your account. Minimum age: 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live). You can delete your account in the app at any time (see §6).
4. Your contributions
By submitting content (places, edits, verifications, reviews, photos) you:
- grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to store, reproduce, display, adapt, and distribute it as part of operating and promoting the service, including in derived databases and on the fontavio.com website;
- confirm you have the right to submit it (your own photos, no third-party rights violated);
- accept that contributions may be edited or merged by moderators and the community, and that contributions to OSM-derived records may be shared back to the community under the ODbL license.
Forbidden content: anything illegal, deceptive place data (including deliberately false potability claims), spam or advertising, personal data of others, harassment or hate, private property listed without meaningful public access, and content involving minors in any inappropriate way. We may remove content, restrict visibility, or suspend accounts at our discretion to keep the map trustworthy — including reduced-visibility measures against spam.
5. Acceptable use
You may not scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract the Fontavio database or substantial parts of it. We assert our rights in the database, including the EU sui generis database right. Interfering with the service, probing security, evading rate limits, or automating access without written permission is prohibited. Personal, normal in-app use — including offline packs in Pro — is of course fine.
6. Account deletion
Delete your account in Profile → Settings. Your sign-in and personal details are removed. Contributions remain in anonymized form (“deleted user”) — removing them would silently break the shared map others rely on. Individual content you want removed before deleting your account can be deleted in the app or requested via support.
7. Pro subscription
Billed through Google Play or the Apple App Store under their terms; prices are shown in-store before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your store account settings. Refunds are handled by the stores per their policies. We may change Pro features with reasonable notice; if we materially reduce them, you may cancel before your next renewal.
8. Advertising
The free tier shows ads (Google AdMob). Ad consent choices are described in the Privacy Policy and changeable in the app’s settings.
9. Liability
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. To the same extent, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for damage resulting from reliance on map content (see §2). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including Finnish consumer protection law), or our liability for intent or gross negligence. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of €50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Third-party data and attribution
Map data includes content © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under ODbL, and city data from GeoNames (CC-BY 4.0). Map display, sign-in, ads, and crash reporting use third-party services described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; material changes are announced in the app at least 30 days in advance, and continued use after the effective date is acceptance. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time.
12. Governing law
Finnish law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Disputes are heard by the District Court of Turku, or, for consumers in Finland, your home district court. EU consumers may also use the ODR platform (ec.europa.eu/odr) or, in Finland, the Consumer Disputes Board.
