How contributions work

Fontavio already covers more than 650,000 places across Europe, US and Canada. Nobody on a payroll keeps that accurate. The people who actually use a place do, a few seconds at a time.

What is usually missing

Most places on the map exist but are thin on detail. If you are standing at one, the things worth adding are the things you would want to know before you got there.

  • Opening hours
  • Free or paid
  • Open to everyone, or customers only
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Drinking water or not

A completely missing place matters too. If you know a tap, toilet or fill-up point that is not on the map yet, add it.

What you can do

Browsing needs no account. With one, you can:

  • Fill in a detail a place is missing, or fix one that is wrong.
  • Confirm a place is still there and still works, if you have been recently.
  • Report a problem: closed, gone, wrong location, or anything else off.
  • Add a photo.
  • Add a place that is not on the map at all.

How it works in the app

Tap any marker to open its detail sheet. Everything a contributor needs sits at the bottom of it.

  • Suggest an edit For a detail that is missing or wrong.
  • Been here? Confirm it works One tap, and the next person sees a fresh date.
  • Report a problem Closed, gone, wrong location, or unsafe.
  • Add a place On the map, drop a pin and choose a category. Those two are the only required fields.

Review, and why it exists

Your first few contributions get a quick double-check from another contributor before they go live. That keeps one bad edit from breaking things for everyone else. The more you contribute accurately, the faster that gets, until your edits publish immediately.
