Drinking water in Finland

Finnish tap water is safe to drink nationwide and restaurants pour it free, so the practical question is rarely whether water is drinkable. It is where a tap exists at all: park fountains, harbour water points, filling posts at campsites and marinas, and the taps inside public buildings that close at five.

Most outdoor fountains here are shut off before the first hard frost and switched back on in spring, which is why seasonal dates matter more in Finland than in southern Europe. Where a contributor has recorded the season, the app shows it, and a fountain that is closed until April is marked closed instead of sending you across town.
